HAIR RESTORATION
Bald persons who
care a lot about their natural look usually look for HAIR
RESTORATION techniques. Looking beautiful and attractive
is the basic right of every person. Some people look cool with the shaved scalp
while others consider them to be ugly. These people who feel ugly with shaved
scalp often think about how their hair can be restored? In the past, there was
no concept of hair restoration. But in modern days, it is also possible.
Science has revolutionized everything and medicine is the most important one.
There are several methods through which bald persons can have their hair to be
restored. Each technique is different from the other but the objective is the
same and so the consequences are also the same. These techniques include the
follicular unit transplant (FUT), follicular unit extraction (FUE), robotic,
laser or hybrid transplant. Before starting treatment, the patient should
consult whether he fulfills the criteria of undergoing the transplant or not.
There are various factors on which a person can be considered eligible like
scalp laxity, availability of hair and other factors.
Previously the most
commonly used technique was FUT hair
restoration in Pakistan in which the
surgeon cuts a strip of skin and then implants it on the bald area of the
scalp. The area from which the surgeon cut the strip is called the donor site.
The area in which the strip is placed is called the recipient site. The donor
site is then sealed with the help of stitches. Another way of treatment is
follicular unit extraction. In follicular unit extraction, the surgeon obtains
the follicles from the donor site. The follicles are then separated one by one
manually. The surgeon then uses micro needles to puncture the donor site. Then
the separated follicles are then grafted in these micro holes. The physician
then cleans the operated site. The bandage is then applied to the head and then
left for almost 24 hours. After these treatments, the person will have
natural-looking hair.
HAIR
RESTORATION next technique is
the robotic hair transplant. In this, the ARTAS robots have a view of the
patient scalp with the help of cameras adjusted in them. After analyzing the
scalp, their software will decide which are the best donor site and the
recipient site. This is done with the help of algorithms installed in their
software. After all observations, the robot cuts the follicles from the donor
site and then places them on the recipient site. These are then separated and
grafted on the recipient site. Another technique of restoration is the HYBRID HAIR
TRANSPLANT. This is a combination of Follicular Unit
Transplant and Follicular Unit Extraction. During this procedure, the strip is
cut from the donor site and then follicles are separated from the strip. These
separated follicles are then placed after making small holes with the help of
micro needles.
The candidate which
is undergoing the HAIR RESTORATION technique is advised to follow
some precautions. The person should avoid smoking before and some days after
the transplant. Blood thinners should not be used as these can cause bleeding
during transplant. Alcohol consumption should be avoided 3 days before
treatment. Touching the operated area is discouraged to avoid any side effects.
Similarly, combing or cleaning is not recommended immediately after surgery.
However, this can be done after a few days of surgery. The itching, bleeding,
and discomfort are common problems that resolve after some time. The newly
grafted hair will shed after a few months, usually 4-5 months. The patient is
advised to have the hair cut after almost 2 weeks after surgery. A medical
practitioner may also advise taking light exercise after 2 days. Strenuous exercise
may have severe consequences. The cost
of a transplant is variable. It depends on the number of factors.
Every location has a cost according to the economic status of its residents.
However, its range is usually $4,000 to $8,000 per session. Hair transplants
performed in multiple sessions, cost reach up to $20,000. A graft of 2,000 to
3,000 can be done in a small session of 4-5 hours. Some types of transplants
can be done in a single session and so have a higher cost than a multiple
session therapy. The cost also depends on the number of follicles moved from
the donor to the recipient site. If the count of grafts of follicles is more,
then cost also increases. The price also depends upon the surgeon. If the
surgeon is skilled then he would charge more.
