PROCESS OF HAIR TRANSPLANT
There are many methods
and the process of hair transplant is different from one another. The
process is not so much different. The technique and process of hair transplant
are somewhat different. In a world full of beauty, everyone wants to look cool
and amazing. Having scalp hair is a source of comfort and satisfaction for most
people. But unfortunately, some people have bald genes which cause their scalp
hair to shed. This is most common in men and least common in women. The
biological and medical reason for this is that it is a sex-limited trait.
Therefore, the male sex suffers more than the female. But, this is the era of
technology and with the advancements of medical sciences; the process of hair
transplant is introduced. The problem of bald persons is much reduced with the
introduction of different processes. These processes include Follicular Unit
Transplant (FUT), Follicular Unit
Extraction (FUE), robotic, laser, NEO-graft and many more. The objective of all of
these is the same and therefore the consequences are also similar. One
procedure’s side effects are different from the other.
Before undergoing the process of hair transplant, the physician advises the patient to avoid some medical thinner drugs, in case the patient is using them. Alcohol consumption should be limited or no consumption at all 7 days before the treatment. The patient should abstain from smoking. Similarly, after surgery, the physician advises avoiding touching things to the treated area. Combing is discouraged. The person may clean his head with prescribed shampoo. Wearing caps and hats are not recommended immediately after treatment. Direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided. A person may take a sunbathe after a few weeks if he is not at risk of sunburn. Taking light exercise after 2 days is recommended but strenuous exercise should be avoided as it can cause bleeding. There may be some swelling or itching at the operated site. The person usually returns to a normal routine within a week but care must be done to avoid any disastrous effect.

Follicular Unit
Transplant (FUT) is the process of Hair transplant in which the
physician cuts the strip of skin usually from the backside of the head and then
stitches are applied to the donor site. The donor site must be full of hair.
This is then grafted to the recipient site which is the bald site of the head
and usually the front side of the scalp. There is one disadvantage that a
linear scar is made at the donor site. In Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE),
instead of making the incision, the follicles are extracted and then are
separated from each other. With the help of microneedles, the micro-holes are
made at the donor site and then follicles are grafted to these holes. In a hybrid hair transplant, the Follicular Unit
Transplant and Follicular Unit Extraction are performed simultaneously. The
strip is cut and then follicles are separated which are then placed in the
holes. Therefore the FUT and FUE are simultaneously done in a single session
surgery. In the NeoGraft process of hair transplant, the follicles are
extracted with the help of a wand. These follicles are extracted by using the
vacuum creation technique. There are the least chances for damage to follicles
as it is the least invasive and extraction is made using a wand.
The process of hair
transplant can be either in a single session or maybe in multiple sessions
depending upon which type is to be followed and what amount of hair is to be
moved from donor to recipient site. In a single session of surgery, usually
2,000 to 3,000 follicles are moved and placed at the recipient site. The cost
of the process also varies according to sessions or locations. A single session
of treatment may cost from $4,000 to $15,000. However, the cost of multiple
session surgery may reach up to $50,000. The cost also depends on the
experience and skills of the surgeon. A trained surgeon usually charges more
than a less trained surgeon. As in the case of the Neo-graft type of procedure,
there are very few trained and skilled surgeons who are undergoing the process
and therefore they charge more than any other common type of procedure.
Unfortunately, the insurance companies do not cover these treatment processes
and the patient had to pay the whole amount by himself. The patient usually
returns to normal routine work within 24-48 hours after the treatment.
